Series: Pages: 320, Print Edition Genre: Historical Christian Romance Setting: Alexandertol, Kansas, 1897 Augusta Dyck is a widowed Mennonite schoolteacher with a twelve-year-old daughter. As a member of the town’s benevolence society, she suggests the group of kind-hearted women begin the search for a wife for a widower with two adorable but mischievous sons. Konrad Rempel doesn’t want the society’s help, but when it becomes evident that he can’t run his business and adequately care for his twins, he agrees to let Augusta search for a wife and mother for his family. Martina Krahn, a childless wife who runs the benevolence society, has her own agenda and becomes a thorn in Augusta’s side. "The Tapestry of Grace" is a sweet romance richly laced with faith, community, and the conflict of man’s plans versus God’s plans. Although there were parts of the book that I found slow going, the author does a wonderful job of immersing the reader in the world of a Mennonite community in the late 1800s. *The author can be found at kimvogelsawyer.com. |
