Published:       February 21, 2023
Series:             The Matchmakers, Book 1
Audio Book:    10 hours and 4 minutes. Narrator: Sarah Zimmerman
Genre:             Historical Christian Romance
Setting:            Newport, Rhode Island, 1888

What happens when a reluctant matchmaker falls for the widower that she’s tasked with finding a wife for?

Gwendolyn Brinley begrudgingly takes on matching-making duties for the Newport season. She soon finds her services a hot commodity when she makes a few love matches among New York’s 400. One client, however, is uncooperative and beyond annoying at first, but she adores his three precocious children.

Walter Townsend is reluctantly in search of a wife for the sake of his unruly motherless children. His unconventional matchmaker, Miss Brinley, seems to find fault in every possible match of the season, as do his children.

The more time Gwendolyn and Walter spend together, the more the pair find that the perfect wife and mother just might be the matchmaker.

Jen Turano is a master storyteller and her romances always hit straight at the heart. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between spunky and clever Gwendolyn and love-adverse Walter. I purchased the audio book version of the story and found myself quickly engaged by the narrator’s voice.
