Flash fiction
|
According to MasterClass: "Flash fiction is a genre of fiction, defined as a very short story. While there is no set word count that separates flash fiction from more traditional short stories, flash fiction stories can be as short as a few words (while short stories typically run for several pages). Flash fiction is also known as sudden fiction, short-short stories, microfiction, or microstories."* I hadn't written short stories since I was in elementary school, but I came across a writing contest through Spark Flash Fiction Magazine** back in the summer of 2022. Spark Flash produces an online magazine three times a year featuring eight to twelve new romance stories under 1,000 words. The stories are guided by a theme that Spark picks. On a whim, and because I loved the theme, I entered their Fall 2022 contest and was more than thrilled when they chose to publish my submission. And now I'm now hooked on flash fiction. I love reading it and writing it. When time permits—publishing a full-length novel is still my goal—I plan to add my short stories below. |
